Melissa Anderson is a practicing photographer, artist, and educator. She has over 25 years of industry experience covering commercial, domestic and the fine art sectors. She has received many accolades throughout her career for her work, business skills and her photographic contributions towards community. Her work has been awarded, exhibited and published national and internationally, and she has lectured internationally. Her work is held in international, national and state galleries.
Melissa was awarded the 1999 Illustrative Photographer of the year, 2001 Qld Commercial Photographer of the year, 2001 Australian Fashion/Advertising Photographer of the year. In 2007 she was named one of the top 10 photographers in Australia, and in 2011 she was awarded RCC Commbank Woman in Business award.
Melissa’s work has been shortlisted in the prestigious Olive Cotton Award, Percival Portrait Prize, Josephine Ulrich and Win Schubert award amongst others, numerous times. In 2017 Melissa was shortlisted in the Clayon Utz Art Prize, Freemantle Portrait Prize, Australian Photography Awards, AIPP Australian Travel Photographer of the year finalist, and Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Prize. In 2018 she was recognized with an Australia Day Cultural award for her work in the cultural sector. She co-curated and developed the Loud and Luminous Festival, and she currently has images exhibiting in the 2018 Percival Portrait Prize.
