From Christchurch, Sharon Thompson is known for her real, honest and emotive photography. She specialises in documentary family and birth photography, capturing raw moments that are full of human connection. Her work is personal and intimate, and she draws inspiration from her unique and varied life in New Zealand and Vietnam.
Five years ago Sharon designed a life for herself that previously she had only dreamed of living. She wanted to use her creative and photographic skills to give back to others, and now Sharon describes her life as a diverse and ‘heart centred’ existence. She dedicates 2 months a year to look after her beloved and special children at an orphanage in HCMC Vietnam. In New Zealand, Sharon is a Manager for Heartfelt Memorial Photography, photographing families who have suffered the loss of still birth, and organising similar shoots with photographers all over the South Island. Sharon is also a Life Skills Tutor at Polytech and has a small start up clothing line that funds her charity work.
Sharon is as real and honest as her photographic work, and loves to share with others the beauty she sees in the unexpected.
